When the body of Assembly Member Alwyn Collier is found near the town of Blaenavon, Detective Inspector Marc Fagan is drawn into a complex mystery stretching back decades.

Collier was under investigation by a Senedd committee following damning allegations about his senior staff. However, all is not what it seems as Fagan peels away layers of the mystery.

As the investigation deepens, Fagan discovers that Collier may have uncovered fresh evidence linked to an unsolved double murder that happened nearly forty years ago, during the miners’ strike.

Fagan’s investigation is hampered by an overbearing Chief Detective Superintendent, determined to put him off the investigation. And a corrupt First Minister, whose ambition for Welsh independence border on obsessive.
